The Last “First.”

On Friday, my family and I experienced our last “first” without Mom (except major life events, of course).  August 2, 2013 marked 1 year since Mom passed away.  The one year anniversary marked several things for me :

  • Mom has been FULLY healed for one whole year!  How awesome is that?!  Mom hasn’t had to deal with any of the sickness that cancer brought her for an entire year.  Mom has also had a beautiful singing voice for a whole year (which she always wanted)!
  • Mom has been worshipping at the feet of Jesus for an entire year!  That’s even more awesome than the fact that she’s been healed for a year!  I can’t imagine what it must be like to worship my Savior face to face, but Mom is experiencing that right now!  I’m kinda jealous :)!
  • We’ve been through a lot of firsts this year… First Christmases, first birthdays, first vacations, etc., & I can say with all of my heart: God has been SO faithful.  I honestly kinda dreaded some of these “firsts,” but God was so good to us.  He blessed us with His joy and allowed these days to be days of celebrating Mom’s life, how Jesus worked in Mom’s life, and just celebrating life in general!  Praise Jesus for His abundant life!
  • People have been SO good to us this past year.  As we have experienced these firsts, people have lifted us up in prayer and been such an encouragement to us.  We have truly seen “Jesus with skin on.”  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We praise Jesus for being so faithful to us over this past year.  We will always miss Mom and will always remember the legacy she left behind, but more importantly, we will always celebrate the fact that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

My question to you is this: When your life on this earth is done will your loved ones be able to celebrate a year later knowing that you are in heaven with Jesus Christ?  I sure hope so!  John 14:6 says, “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.  The only way to the Father is through me.”  The only reason Mom is fully healed and in heaven right now is because she believed on Jesus Christ.  The only way is through Him.  I’ve written a few more blogs on this- Jesus Only Jesus and Happy Birthday!  If you have any questions on the Gospel or salvation, I’d love for you to read them or post a comment with your question.  Accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and having a personal relationship with Him is the most important thing you can ever do in life!  I am SO thankful that Mom made the decision to follow Christ because we are now able to celebrate like we do!

Photo: It's been 1 year since Mom went to be with Jesus. It makes me smile knowing she's been fully healed for a whole year! Mom left a legacy that I will always remember. Thank you to everyone who has been "Jesus with skin on" to us over the past year! #blessed
